The company has a philosophy based around ecological and sustainable ideals, from concept through to practice. This is achieved by driving the use of ethically sourced and sustainable materials along with encouraging wildlife friendly planting and practices. We source as many of our plants as we can from local nurseries, and where possible grown in peat free media and without unnecessary chemicals.
Nick Lodge has been designing and making gardens since the early 2000s, having been brought up in a gardening family and deciding to change his carer direction in his 30s. He studied for his Royal Horticultural Society qualifications at Berkshire College of Agriculture and has been continuing to learn ever since.
Nick’s passion is plants and wildlife – having grown up in the Chiltern hills and spent his childhood exploring woods, looking under logs and asking a lot of questions. He has been lucky to travel to many botanically interesting parts of the world such as the Pacific Northwest of North America and New Zealand – seeing many of the plants we grow in our gardens in their natural habitat, which is not only interesting but key in understanding the communities they create in the wild and how these can be re-created in a garden setting. He is also a keen photographer – and was on the other end of the camera for most of the shots on this website.
